Overview
The Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS) and Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) provide tax reliefs for clients who have invested in qualifying companies. In BrightTax, these are entered across two supplementary schedules — SA101 for the income tax relief and SA108 for any Capital Gains Tax deferral or exemption.
✔ Tip: Before entering SEIS or EIS figures in BrightTax, refer to HMRC's guidance: gov.uk/guidance/venture-capital-schemes-tax-relief-for-investors. The HMRC helpsheet HS393 covers SEIS specifically.

Frequently Asked Questions

A: Yes, if the client has made qualifying investments under both schemes in the same tax year.
Q: My client has carry-back relief for SEIS — where does this go?
A: SEIS carry-back relief is also entered on SA101 under the Other Tax Reliefs section. Refer to the HMRC helpsheet for the specific boxes that apply to carry-back claims.
