This release introduces two significant new features — the MTD Qualifying Income Report and Corporation Tax 2026 support — alongside a number of reliability improvements across the platform. Here is everything that has changed and what it means for your practice.
New Features
MTD Qualifying Income Report NEW FEATURE You can now run an MTD Qualifying Income Report directly from the Reports menu in BrightTax. This report gives you a complete, practice-wide view of which clients will be required to file under Making Tax Digital for Income Tax, and from which tax year — replacing the equivalent report previously available in BTC desktop software.

Corporation Tax 2026 Support NEW FEATURE BrightTax now supports creating and submitting Corporation Tax returns for accounting periods ending up to 31 March 2027, using HMRC's updated CT 2026 form and taxonomy. The following changes apply for the 2026 period:

Improvements & Fixes
The following issues have been resolved in this release:
| Area | What Has Changed |
|---|---|
| ITR Subschedule Lock Notifications | When editing an ITR subschedule and receiving a lock notification on save, you can now click Save again to retry without refreshing the page. BrightTax retries automatically each time and saves successfully once the lock is released. |
| 'NOT FOR SUBMISSION' Watermark — Trial Mode | Personal Tax Return and Accounts Production / Corporation Tax prints now correctly display a 'NOT FOR SUBMISSION' watermark when your organisation is on a BrightTax Trial subscription. This is expected behaviour and confirms the return is for review only. |
| FreeAgent Journal Export Error Messaging | When exporting a journal to FreeAgent, entries that cannot be exported due to their nominal code configuration are now handled correctly. BrightTax displays a clear message identifying which entries are affected so you can take the appropriate action. |
| Column Widths in AP and CT Grid Templates | Column widths set in Accounts Production and Corporation Tax grid templates now save and load correctly between sessions. |
| Single Asset Private Use Capital Allowances — SA103 | Validation in the Single Asset Private Use pool within SA103 Capital Allowances now works correctly for all tax years. |
| CT Return Error Message — No Year End Accounts Linked | The error message shown when a Corporation Tax return has no linked Year End Accounts has been corrected to accurately describe the issue and the action required. |
