VT SNF Final Accounts Import

Now Available in BrightTax Individual Tax Returns

Released: 1 July 2026

 

You can now import final accounts directly from VT accounting software into the self-employment section of your clients' Individual Tax Returns in BrightTax — removing the need to re-key financial data between your accounts and tax software.

 

What's New

 

VT SNF Final Accounts Import    NEW FEATURE

Export your final accounts as an SNF file from VT Transaction+, VT Final Accounts, or compatible VT software, and import it directly into the SA103 self-employment section of any BrightTax Individual Tax Return.

•  Import final accounts figures directly from VT accounting software

•  Review imported data in a preview before applying it to the return

•  Automatic conflict warnings if data has already been entered on the return

•  Supports 2025/26 and 2026/27 tax years

 

 

✔ If you used SNF import in BTC Software, the process in BrightTax is identical — this update brings full feature parity between the two products.

 

How to Import

 

1 Export your final accounts as an SNF file from VT Transaction+ or VT Final Accounts (File > Export > SNF file).
2 In BrightTax, open the client's Individual Tax Return and navigate to the Self-Employment (SA103) section.
3 Click Import SNF File.
4 Upload your SNF file.
5 Review the data in the preview — confirm the figures match your VT accounts.
6 Click Confirm and Apply. The figures populate the return automatically.

 

⚠ Important: If BrightTax detects a conflict with data already entered on the return, a warning will appear at the preview stage. Review both sets of figures before confirming the import — confirming will overwrite any existing SA103 data.

 

 

Partnership Returns

 

ℹ Note: SNF import for partnership accounts (SA800TP) will be available in a future BrightTax update. This release supports sole trader self-employment data (SA103) only.

  • VT Transaction+
  • VT Final Accounts
  • Other VT-compatible accounting software that exports standard SNF files
